This week at REI of Virginia we are having a relationship building meeting. We will be meeting with The Roanoke Valley Association of Realtors president, Vic Coffey.
There are several issues that REI of VA and the RVAR have in common that we could work on together within our area. It’s nice to team up with other like minded professional groups to make Roanoke a better place for everyone. Strength in numbers…
I’m writing this 1 day early just in case I can’t get into the office tomorrow afternoon due to the expected snow. If you didn’t already know, our policy is that if the restaurant is open we will be having our meeting. So if you’re unsure give Shakers a call.
See you there!
FYI, as you know we have been working very hard over the past few years to prevent the Water Authority from putting liens on landlords property for unpaid tenant bills. It’s looking like we just may have a win.
As of right now Senate Bill 868 has passed the senate with a unanimous 38 yes to 0 no vote and has now passed the House Counties, Cities and Towns committee with a unanimous 21 yes to 0 no vote. It now has to go to the House floor for a vote and then to the governor.
And another complementary House Bill passed the house 100 yes to 0 no and has now been referred to the Senate for their vote.
If we win this the Water Authority will have been successfully defeated and tenants will in this manor now be responsible for their own actions as they rightfully should be.
Thank you Senator Edwards for all of your help on this! And thank you REI members for getting those letters out showing your support for the bills! A couple weeks to go and we will know the final verdict.
